Women's basketball drain season-best 15 three pointers in 87-49 win over BVU

WAVERLY, Iowa – Women's basketball extended its winning streak to five games after an 87-49 blowout over Buena Vista University on Wednesday, Jan. 14 inside Levick Arena.
 
The Knights scored 75 points in the first three quarters of play and 12 different Knights scored in the victory.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • First Quarter
      • Emma Townsley got the scoring started in tonight's contest with a three pointer assisted by Grace Hennessy to put Wartburg ahead 3-0 early
      • The Beavers responded with an 11-2 run over the next two minutes to take an 11-5 lead after three minutes of play
      • The Knights were able to tie the game at 13-13 after outscoring BVU 8-2 with 4:03 left in the first quarter
      • The Beavers took a 15-13 lead before the Knights offense exploded for 15 points in the final three and a half minutes of the first quarter to put Wartburg in front 28-17
    • Second Quarter
      • The Knights continued where they left off in the first quarter with three pointers from Carly Rich and Hennessy along with a basket from Boulanger to push the lead to 36-17
      • Wartburg stayed hot from three-point range as the Knights made three three pointers over the next three and a half minutes to take a 47-23 lead with 4:24 left in the half
      • Wartburg closed the half outscoring BVU 8-7 behind three points each from Laynee Hogan and Boulanger
  • Second Half
    • Third Quarter
      • Wartburg jumped out to an 8-0 start to the third quarter after scores from Boulanger, Hennessy and Townsley
      • A bucket from Aden and another three pointer from Rich put the Knights in front 68-34 with 3:39 left in the third
      • Rich and Boulanger each connected on another three pointer in the final minutes of the third quarter to give Wartburg a 75-35 lead after three quarters
    • Fourth Quarter
      • Aden scored again for the Knights early into the final quarter, but BVU outscored Wartburg 6-2 in the first minutes of the fourth quarter
      • Pagniano connected from deep and Lauren McLaughlin scored in the paint to push the score to 82-43 with 3:17 left to play
      • A floater from Sydney Lamkin and a corner three pointer from McLaughlin put the finishing touches on a 87-49
