Knights defeat Spartans 61-49 in Dubuque behind 25 points from Boulanger

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Women's basketball (8-6, 4-1 A-R-C) moved its winning streak to four games after defeating the University of Dubuque (4-9, 2-2 A-R-C) 61-49 on the road Wednesday, Jan. 7.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • First Quarter
      • Grace Hennessy, Katie Boulanger and Corrie Harrison got the scoring started with two points each in the first two minutes to go ahead 6-4
      • Wartburg went ahead 11-6 with 3:24 following a made layup from Hennessy and a three pointer from Boulanger
      • Emma Townsley and Katelyn Aden closed the first quarter with two points apiece to give Wartburg a 15-8 lead after the opening quarter
    • Second Quarter
      • Wartburg grew the lead to 11 points (21-10) after a jumper from Hennessy and four-straight points from Harrison
      • Scores from Lauren Donlea, Laynee Hogan and Harrison gave the Knights a 27-15 lead with 4:55 to go in the half
      • Dubuque ended the half on a 7-0 run to cut Wartburg's halftime lead to 27-22
  • Second Half
    • Third Quarter
      • Townsley and Boulanger each had two points to begin the third quarter as the Knights held a 31-24 lead after two minutes
      • The Spartans cut the lead to 31-30 with 5:38 left in the third following three-straight scores
      • Wartburg went on a 11-4 run highlighted by back-to-back three pointers from Boulanger and Hennessy
    • Fourth Quarter
      • Dubuque cut the lead to two points in the first minute of the fourth quarter, but the Knights answered with five-straight points from Boulanger to take a 46-39 lead
      • Wartburg took a 51-41 lead with just over five minutes left to play following a free throw from Aden and a layup from Boulanger
      • Boulanger and Townsley closed the game at the free throw line to give the Knights a 61-49 lead
