WAVERLY, Iowa — The Knights defeated the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 1-0 to claim the Warhawk Knight Cup trophy in a high-intensity matchup on Friday, Oct. 2.
Lwings Kabula scored in the 16th minute with an assist from
Sawyer Udelhofen and the Knights were able to keep a clean sheet for the rest of the match defensively to closeout a 1-0 shutout for Wartburg's third straight-win. Wartburg is now 4-2-3 overall, while UW-Whitewater is now 5-2-3

First Half

Caleb Cross handled an early Wis.-Whitewater shot at 4:27, and the Knights followed with three corner kicks and three shots between 6:45 and 14:33.
- The Knights opened the scoring at 15:02 when Kabula finished off an assist from Udelhofen for a 1-0 lead.
- Wis.-Whitewater pushed late, with Cross making another save at 39:02 before the visitors earned four corner kicks in the final minutes, but the Knights carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Second Half
- With the Knights ahead 1-0, the Orange and Black generated five shots from 49:36 to 55:04, including a
Diego Sanchez attempt saved by Austin Waite and a corner kick in the 53rd minute.
- The stretch that followed featured multiple fouls and cards, while Cross saved Wis.-Whitewater's shot on goal at 61:25 to keep the score at 1-0.
- The Knights pressed again from 63:54 to 73:05 with five shots and two corner kicks, forcing three more saves from Waite.
- Wis.-Whitewater created late pressure with shots, corners and two Cross saves between 78:05 and 89:22, but the Knights held on for the 1-0 win.
