WAVERLY, Iowa -- Wartburg College football announced its 2026 schedule, featuring a balanced slate of five home and five road games beginning Saturday, Sept. 5.

The Knights will host three American Rivers Conference contests at Walston-Hoover Stadium and play four league games on the road. After opening the year with three non-conference matchups and a bye week, Wartburg will begin conference play at Nebraska Wesleyan University on Oct. 3. 

Wartburg opens the 2026 campaign on the road at Monmouth College, which finished the 2025 season 9-2 and advanced to the NCAA Division III Second Round before falling to Saint John's University. The Scots won nine straight games following a 21-7 loss at Wartburg to open the 2025 season.

The Knights then return home for a marquee non-conference stretch, hosting 2026 national runner-up North Central College on Sept. 12 and reigning national champion University of Wisconsin–River Falls on Sept. 19. Wartburg and North Central last met in the 2023 NCAA Division III semifinal, a 34-27 Cardinal victory at Walston-Hoover, while the matchup with UW–River Falls marks the first meeting between the programs.

Following a bye week, the Knights open A-R-C play on the road before returning home for their conference opener against Buena Vista University on Oct. 10. Wartburg then embarks on a two-game road swing at Loras College (Oct. 17) and the University of Dubuque (Oct. 24).

The Knights are back at Walston-Hoover on Oct. 31 to face Simpson College, then close the regular season with a road game at Central College on Nov. 11 and a home finale versus Coe College on Nov. 14.
