INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Baseball started the season with a 6-5 victory over Marian University on Friday, Feb. 20. Charlie Krueger led the team with two RBIs. Kam Volz picked up the win on the mound and Conner Funk earned a clutch save to give the Knights their victory of the season.

  • Andrew Gallegos scored the first run of the year for the Knights with an RBI from Jayden Scott.
  • Charlie Krueger singled to center field, bringing home Keegan Schmitt to give the Knights a 2-0 lead. Marian responded with one run to cut the deficit to 2-1.

  • Another costly error by the Knights gave Marian their first lead of the game by a score of 3-2.

  • A costly error following a bunt by Jayden Scott led to Griffin Troha scoring to put the Knights ahead 5-4.
  • Charlie Krueger extended the Knights lead to 6-4 with an RBI to bring in Andrew Gallegos.

• Ninth Inning
  • Marian singled to center field to put pressure on the Knights and shortened the lead to 6-5.
  • A ground out to second place gave Conner Funk the save and the Knights a close 6-5 victory.
