BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Softball opened play at the Illinois Wesleyan University tournament on Saturday, Mar. 28 with two highly competitive games, where Clavin won 6-4 on a walk-off play before Wartburg defeated Illinois Wesleyan on a walk-off of its own from
Bella Mulder to win 2-1.
Mulder delivered at the plate in both games for the Knights as the Grimes, Iowa native hit a two-run home run against Calvin before delivering the game-winning single against IWU. The Knights are now 14-6 overall and will be back in action for two more games in Bloomington tomorrow.

- First Inning
- Wartburg jumped on Calvin early in the first inning with a bunt single from Reagan Hassel followed by a home run to left center field from Bella Mulder to put the Knights in front 2-0
- Alexis Larson and Carley Bredar each walked and Addy Wells singled, but Calvin got out of the inning with no more runs allowed
- Second Inning
- Calvin was able to cut Wartburg's lead in half in the bottom of the second inning after a double and a fielding error brought one run across to make the score 2-1
- Third Inning
- Wartburg responded in the next frame when Bredar walked and then both Stephanie Kiefer and Liz Kruckenberg singled to load the bases
- Ally Happ was hit by a pitch to score Bredar and push the Wartburg lead to 3-1
- Calvin used one hit and two Wartburg errors to bring across three runs in the bottom half of the third to take a 4-3 lead
- Fifth Inning
- Bredar led off the inning with a walk before both Kiefer and Kruckenberg singled to load the bases
- Hassel tied the game up at 4-4 with a sacrifice flyout to center field to send the game to the sixth inning all knotted up
- Seventh Inning
- Calvin ended the game in the bottom of the seventh with a walk-off home run that made the final score 6-4

- The Titans struck first with a leadoff walk and two singles in the top of opening inning to take a 1-0 lead
- Third Inning
- Amanda Strzyzewski and Kruckenberg each singled in the third inning, but IWU got out of the inning with no runs allowed to keep the score at 1-0
- Fifth Inning
- Following one run and two hits in the opening inning, Katelyn Klever didn't allow another run over the next four innings and struck out three batters
- The Knights tied the game at 1-1 after singles from Bredar and Strzyzewski put runners on the corners for Hassel, who reached first on an error that brought Bredar home
- Seventh Inning
- Klever continued to keep the Titans off the scoreboard in the sixth and then Lauren Dyer came into the circle to pitch the seventh inning and then put together a three-up and three-down inning
- With one out, Strzyzewski and Kruckenberg each singled to put runners on first and second before a double steal moved the runners into scoring position
- Mulder stepped up to the plate with two outs and delivered a walk-off single that scored Strzyzewski and gave Wartburg a 2-1 win
