Softball Stacks Two More Wins in Florida with Wins Over Lebanon Valley and St. John Fisher

CLERMONT, Fla. – Wartburg has now won four-straight games after a 2-0 day at the Spring Break Games on Friday, Mar. 6 as the Knights defeated Lebanon Valley College 9-4 and St. John Fisher University 12-4 in six innings.
 
The Knights are now 8-4 overall this season after winning four-straight games and five of the last six. Lebanon Valley moves to 1-7 overall, while St. John Fisher is now 7-3 overall.

    • First Inning
    • Second Inning
      • Lebanon Valley retook the lead in the following inning after bringing three runs across before the Knights got out of the inning with a 5U-3 double play from Addy Wells
      • Stephanie Kiefer reached first on a throwing error and then was brought home after Wells hit a two-run homer to put the Knights back in front 5-4 headed to the third inning
    • Third Inning
      • Jillian Panther had a three-up and three-down inning in the circle for the Knights in the top half, but the Knights couldn't get any more offense going in the bottom half
    • Fourth Inning
      • Following another one-two-three top of the fourth, The Knights added two more runs after an RBI-single from Wells scored Carley Bredar and another RBI-single from Hassel to score Wells and give Wartburg a 7-4 lead
    • Fifth Inning
      • A bunt and a steal from Happ put her on second base with no outs before she was eventually scored by a Wiebenga sacrifice out
    • Sixth Inning
      • In the top of the sixth, Wartburg got out of trouble after a leadoff double and a walk put runners on first and second before Kaylee Mescher caught both runners stealing in an unorthodox double play
      • The Knights forced a popout and continued to lead 8-4 headed to the bottom half
      • Kruckenberg smacked a triple into right field to put a runner in scoring position for Hassel, who grounded out to bring Kruckenberg home
    • Seventh Inning
      • Leading 9-4, Katelyn Klever allowed one hit in the final inning before a fly out and double play ended the game 9-4

    • First Inning
      • Wartburg brought one run across in the opening inning when Klever singled to left center field to score Hassel and give the Knights a 1-0 lead
        • Hassel and Mulder both singled in the first as well
    • Second Inning
      • Larson doubled down the right field line and then stole third to setup another Wartburg score when Amanda Strzyzewski had an RBI single to make it 2-0
      • Kruckenberg added another single for the Knights before Mulder doubled to the right center field gap to score both Strzyzewski and Kruckenberg and give Wartburg a 4-0 lead
      • Klever struck out two in the second inning to keep the Cardinals scoreless after two innings
    • Third Inning
      • The Knights scored for a third-straight inning after back-to-back singles from Carley Bredar and Larson to set up an RBI groundout from Happ
      • Strzyzewski singled to shortstop to bring home Larson and give the Knights a 6-0 lead headed to the bottom half
      • St. John Fisher got on the board in the third with a solo-shot homer to left center field to cut Wartburg's lead to 6-1
    • Fourth Inning
      • With one out, Klever doubled to the left-center gap before she was eventually scored by a two-out double from Larson to push the Wartburg lead to 7-1
      • The Cardinals were able to turn two hits and a walk into two runs in the bottom half of the fourth to cut Wartburg's lead to 7-3
    • Fifth Inning
      • Each team recorded one hit in the fifth, but neither team brought any runs across as the Knights held a 7-3 lead headed into the sixth
    • Sixth Inning
      • The Knights added to their lead in the sixth inning with a five-run inning led by an RBI-single from Rylie Metz, an RBI-double from Kruckenberg and a three-run homer from Hassel to put Wartburg in front 12-3
      • The Cardinals used two hits and a wild pitch to bring one in during the bottom of the inning, but the Knights closed the door to secure a 12-4 win in six innings
