Ryan Chapman have announced the hiring of former Knight standout
Jack Kinzer as an assistant distance coach.
Kinzer returns to his alma mater following an outstanding five-year career with the Wartburg men's cross country and track & field programs. During his time as a Knight, he earned seven American Rivers Conference All-Academic Team selections, three U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors, and three All-American Rivers Conference accolades.
"Jack is a great addition to our staff as we look to continue our distance success. He has tremendous knowledge with endurance events and also brings valuable experience as an accomplished Knight. We are looking forward to getting to work," said Chapman.
"It's always exciting to welcome one of our alumni back to be a part of our staff. Jack had an incredible career as a student-athlete. Jack knows Wartburg and has played an important role in building our tradition," said Newsom.
As a member of the Knights, Kinzer helped lead the men's cross country program to five American Rivers Conference championships, three NCAA Division III Midwest Regional titles, and two NCAA Division III National Championship runner-up finishes.
"I couldn't be more thrilled to return to Wartburg!", said Kinzer.
"My time here as a student-athlete had a huge impact on me, not only because of our success, but because of the coaches who invested in me. Coach Chapman and Coach Newsom helped shape me into the person I am today and being able to give back to a program that has given me so much is a blessing. I am excited to help our students' athletes grow and compete at the highest of levels!"
A native of North Liberty, Iowa, Kinzer is a graduate of Liberty High School, where he was a member of the Class 4A state championship 4x800-meter relay team. He also earned First Team All-State and All-Conference honors during his prep career.
