WAVERLY, Iowa -- Wartburg College Head Volleyball Coach DeAnn Akins has announced the promotion of Megan Witte to full-time assistant coach ahead of the 2026 season.

Witte enters her second season with the Knights after serving as a part-time assistant coach during the 2025 season. In her new role, Witte will take on expanded responsibilities within the Wartburg volleyball program.

Since joining our program last season, she has made a tremendous impact on our student-athletes and the program as a whole. Megan brings a wealth of knowledge of the game, a creative and competitive mindset, and a genuine passion for developing people. As we continue to build on the tradition of Wartburg Volleyball, having someone who understands our vision and believes in what we're building is invaluable. We are grateful for the energy, perspective and commitment she brings every day, and I know she will play a vital role in helping us continue to move Wartburg Volleyball forward.", said Akins. 
 
During her collegiate playing career, Witte concluded a standout fifth season at Drake in 2024, earning All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team honors after appearing in all 30 matches. She finished second on the team with 365 kills while totaling 425.5 points. Defensively, she added 280 digs and 52 blocks, while also contributing 30 service aces and 20 assists.

Before transferring to Drake, Witte spent four seasons at the University of Northern Iowa, where she was a member of two Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament championship teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament. She was also a two-time MVC Honor Roll selection and graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology.

A native of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Witte enjoyed an exceptional prep career at Lewis Central High School as a four-year varsity starter. She earned First Team All-State honors in volleyball after recording 484 kills, 292 digs, and 41 blocks during her senior season. She was selected to compete in the Iowa High School Senior Classic and finished seventh in the state in kills across all classifications.

A three-sport standout, Witte also garnered two Iowa All-State honors in basketball, was twice named City Player of the Year in both volleyball and basketball and qualified for both the Drake Relays and the Iowa High School State Track & Field Championships.

Witte also coaches club volleyball for Six Pack and worked with the program's 15-1's team this season (2025-26).
