WAVERLY, Iowa — The Knights were defeated at home by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville 2-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
The Knights generated 14 shots to UW-Platteville's six, but only two were on goal.
Wartburg is now 1-2-3 overall, while the Pioneers move to 3-1-1 overall.
How It Happened
First Half
- The Knights generated the early pressure, putting
Alima Mmunga's shot on frame at 1:02, earning corner kicks at 1:56 and 2:31 and adding attempts from
Lwings Kabula and
Diego Sanchez while the match remained scoreless.
- Wis.-Platteville broke through at 22:11 when Niall Hagen scored off an assist from Aiden Hatleberg, then added a second goal at 24:40 when Luke Hogle scored from Roberto Salinas to make it 2-0.
- The Knights pushed back with a corner kick and
Drew DeSmidt shot shortly after the second goal, then added late attempts from
Flori Gembo and
Jacob Banyas, with Banyas' shot saved by Connor Waite before Wis.-Platteville led 2-0 at halftime.
Second Half

Joseph Svoboda saved Roberto Salinas' shot at 46:08, and the Knights pushed forward soon after with two corner kicks and four shots from 47:03 to 54:36 while still down 2-0.
- The Knights generated another stretch of pressure between 62:58 and 69:49, getting a shot from
Isaac Kelgbeh, two from Gembo and a corner kick.
- Sanchez added a shot at 80:35 before Wis.-Platteville earned late corners at 83:30 and 88:55, and the match ended with the Knights falling 2-0.
