ELDRIDGE, Iowa — Wartburg College (4-0, 0-0 American Rivers) defeated St. Ambrose 4-3 on Tuesday. The Knights swept all three doubles matches and added singles wins at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5.
The Knights earned the doubles point by sweeping the three completed courts.
Morgan Kathman and
Brooke Bloom defeated Chiara Aguirre and Xiomara Aguirre 6-4 at No. 1 doubles,
Kendall Olson and
Kaitlyn Olson edged Catherine Meystrik and Riley Heiar 7-6(7) at No. 2, and
Lily Schreckengast and
Abi Peyman topped Lucy Kraft and Natalie Holst 7-6(2) at No. 3.
The Knights carried that 1-0 lead into singles and added points from Kathman, Schreckengast and
Abi Peyman. Kathman defeated Chiara Aguirre 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Schreckengast beat Riley Heiar 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4, and Peyman posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Yeva Shershan at No. 5.
