Steve Johnson High School Meet

SATURDAY, OCT. 4, 2025

We're excited to host the 9th Annual Steve Johnson Invite, Oct. 4 at Wartburg College's prestigious Max Cross Country Course (host of multiple NCAA regional and national meets). The meet continues to grow, which is an exciting thing for Midwest XC. With Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin schools returning this year (as well as awesome Iowa returnees and additions – and yes, the meet is NFHS-certified), the meet will be at its very best! For those curious about how the course runs, last year's results can be found here.

2025 Results can be found here after the race concludes

As always, we will give out an abundance of hardware (top 80 individuals in varsity race and top 25 in JV races will receive medals…as well as team awards for the top three in each varsity section, the top JV teams and the top three teams in both the Orange and Gray divisions). We will hand out medals as the runners go through the chute and the team awards following the last race of the day. Entry fee is $150 per gender team and $25 for an individual runner. If this is your first time racing at the meet, we will waive the entry fee.

Additional Meet Information:

  • Buses should park along 12th St. (north of the railroad tracks) or 7th Ave. NW. NO BUSES SHOULD PARK SOUTH OF THE RAILROAD TRACKS. Small vans or cars can park off 12th St. in the Shady Acres Parking Lot or off 7th Ave. NW. If additional parking is needed, vehicles can park on the south side of campus (near Bremer Ave…roughly ½ mile from the course).
  • Team camps MUST BE NORTH OF THE RAILROAD TRACKS. We have a large field south of the starting line which is big enough for all of your teams. Do not put up team camps south of the tracks.
  • Similarly, please advise your athletes not to warm-up south of the tracks, near the soccer fields.
  • Reminder: Maximum of 10 varsity runners and JV entry is unlimited
  • We have a record board with top-10 All-time individual performances and past team results on the back of the award stand. You can also find that information on the Wartburg website.
  • No one is allowed in the W Athletic Center, outside of weather emergencies.
  • There will be over 30 Porto-Johns on the course.
  • Please advise parents to stay back from the finish-line chute
