Scott Schara

    Assistant Women's Soccer Coach
Scott Schara enters his ninth year with the program in 2020. The Knights have made four NCAA appearances, and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen round in his tenure. He previously was an assistant with the men's program for four seasons, that made four-straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

Schara was the head girl's soccer coach at Waverly-Shell Rock High School for nine seasons (2004-12) and guided the Go-Hawks to eight Iowa State Tournaments, which included a State Runner-Up finish in 2006. He finished with a career record of 131-29-1.

He played football at the University of Montana for two years, where the Grizzlies won the 1999 Big Sky Conference Championship and made two appearances in the NCAA Division IAA Playoffs. Schara then transferred to Coe College where he was a First-team All-Conference selection his senior season.

He graduated from Coe in 2002 with his Bachelor of Arts degree in education and history. He later earned his master's degree in Social Science from Northern Iowa.

Schara is a teacher at Waverly-Shell Rock middle school.
