Wartburg puts four in double figures

WAVERLY – Wartburg College junior forward Jordan Sathoff (Packwood) put the wraps on a big week of Iowa Conference play Jan. 22.

Sathoff turned in 18 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots in an 82-72 loss to Coe. Over a three-game, six-day schedule, he finished with 72 points (24 per game), 26 rebounds (8.7 per game), and hit better than 50 percent from the field.

Coach Dick Peth’s squad also placed junior forward Kirk Sidey (Greenfield), junior forward Cole Danielson (Marshalltown) and freshman guard Tanner Kramer (Hayfield, Minn.)., in double-figure scoring Saturday. Sidey finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists, Danielson added 10 points, six rebounds and two steals, and Kramer finished with 10 points.

Coe (13-5, 7-2 IIAC) hit over 53 percent from the field and over 71 percent from outside the arc to race out to a 44-22 lead. Wartburg (6-11, 1-8 IIAC) rallied to as close as nine points (65-56) in the second half but could get no closer.

The Orange and Black continue their brief two-game home stand when Central visits Levick Arena for an 8 p.m. start Wednesday, Jan. 26.

NOTES – Danielson upped his double-figure scoring streak to nine straight. … Sathoff has a six-game double-figure scoring string going and has seen his scoring average rise nearly four points (13.4-17) in the span.
