Knights Blank Pipers, Otto Records Four Points

WAVERLY, Iowa—In Sunday’s non-conference game against Hamline (2-6-2 overall(, the Wartburg men’s soccer team (5-4-0) recorded its fourth shutout win of the year with the 4-0 victory.

Junior Austin Otto (Coralville) tallied four points on the day with his two goals. He scored his first one at 19:05 on a pass from senior Nate Gottsacker (Bloomington, Ill.) and his second at 67:07 on a pass from sophomore Jared Nelson (Johnston).

Gottsacker recorded a goal of his own just 50 seconds after Otto’s first one to make the score 2-0 in the Knights’ favor.

Sophomore Matt Kristensen (Ankeny) scored his first goal of the year at 77:03 on the rebound of his penalty kick attempt.

Sophomore Cade Shatzer (Hudson) recorded his fourth shutout win of the season in goal for the Orange and Black.

Wartburg held the team advantage in shots (20-10).

The Knights return to the field Wednesday when they travel to face UW-Platteville at 7 p.m.
