Women's Soccer Preview-IIAC Championship

Chelsea Frye slips past defenders.
WAVERLY, Iowa – The Wartburg Knights (16-1-2) will travel to Loras College (15-2-1) to take on the Duhawks in the championship round of the IIAC Tournament. The match will kick-off at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Rock Bowl on the Loras campus. This is a rematch of last years IIAC tournament final.
 
In the Tournament:
The Knights came into the tournament as the No. 2 seed. They received a first round by in the tournament and defeated Simpson by a score of 6-0 on Wednesday night to move onto the finals. The Duhawks received the one seed in this year’s IIAC tourney. To move to the finals, Loras defeated Luther 2-0.
 
A Look at the Teams:
Wartburg:

The Knights are led this year by their senior class. Chelsea Frye (Waverly) leads the team in points with 32. She also leads the team in goals with 16. Frye is 6th in the nation in game winning goals with six. The Knights are also led by senior Katy Wendt (Pleasant Valley) who is second on the team in points with 26 and leads the team with assists with 12. Junior goal keeper Monica Noti (Glenbard North) is 33rd in the country in goals-against average (553) and 53rd in save percentage (86%). 
 
As a team, the Knights are 34th    in the country goals-against average with a .569 average, 67th in shutout percentage at 52.9% and 72nd in scoring offense scoring 2.59 goals a game.

Loras:
The Duhawks are ranked 13th in the nation and, like the Knights, are a very senior dominated team.  Leading the team in points is senior Kathrine Bird (Iowa City High) with 24. She is tied for first on the team in goals with eight. She also leads the team in assists with eight. Complementing Bird is senior Nicole Dillenburg (Urbandale). Dillenburg is tied for the team lead in goals with eight and is second on the team in assists with five. Leading the team in net is Junior Megan Petersen (Indianola). Petersen has racked up 83 saves this year along with a .790 save percentage.
 
As a team the DuHawks are ranked 16th in the country in scoring, totaling 3.5 goals per game. Also, they are ranked 50th in shut out percentage with a .556. 

These two programs previously met on Oct. 12 and drew a double-overtime tie.
