WAVERLY, Iowa—Senior Jordan Sathoff (Packwood) recorded his second double-double of the young season with his 28 points and 13 rebounds in Wartburg’s 81-76 win over Simpson Saturday.

The Knights move to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in Iowa Conference play while the Storm move to 2-4, 1-1.

Sophomore Thomas Perkins (Sun Valley, Nev.) joined Sathoff in double figures with his 11 points on the day.

Sathoff finished eight points shy of tying his career-high in that category which he interestingly set last season against Simpson on Jan. 19.

The Storm had three players in double digits and were led by 24 from Chad Boston. Cornelius Mosby and Zack Barragan each followed with 16 points on the game.

The score was tied 41-41 at halftime and the score was tied for the last time at 52 all with 13:40 remaining until the Orange and Black compiled a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to take the lead for good.

The Storm came within three points with 15 seconds remaining but sophomore Mitchell Murphy (Cresco) made two consecutive free throws after being fouled with eight seconds remaining to increase the margin to five.

Simpson was unable to execute a final play to give Wartburg the win.

The Knights return to the hardwood Wednesday when they travel to Buena Vista at 8 p.m.
