WAVERLY, Iowa—Wartburg (1-0-1 overall) drew a 2-2 double overtime tie to non-conference opponent, No. 25 Concordia-Moorhead (1-0-1). The Cobbers received the No. 25 spot in the NSCCA Preseason Top 25 Poll.
Sophomore Rachel Torry (Urbandale) put the Knights on the board just over a minute into the game. She connected on a pass from classmate Anna Aquino (Bettendorf) to take the early 1-0 lead.
Aquino wrapped up her three point day with her goal six minutes later to give the Knights the 2-0 advantage.
Concordia netted its first goal of the day at 37:29 as Marta Prosinksi capitalized on the rebound of an earlier Cobber shot.
Elizabeth Robinson’s goal in the 84th minute evened the score at two all.
Neither teams were able to score in the extra sessions as Wartburg held the team advantage in shots (6-2).
Freshman Katie Reinhardt (Waverly) made seven saves on the day.
The Orange and Black return to action Saturday on the road against Carleton at 2 p.m. in Northfield, Minn. and return home Sunday to host St. Benedict’s at 2 p.m.
