WAVERLY, Iowa—The Wartburg men’s basketball team (8-9 overall, 2-6 IIAC) fell 71-59 to Iowa Conference opponent, Cornell (3-13, 1-6) Monday night.

The Rams took the narrow 33-32 lead at halftime and outscored the Knights 38-27 in the second frame to seal the win.
 
Senior Jordan Sathoff (Packwood) tallied 24 points and nearly had a double-double with his nine rebounds.

Classmate Darian Patterson (West Chester) had a team-high ten rebounds on the night.

Cornell had three players in double figures and was paced by 27 points from Reggie Greenwood. Joey Guth and Alex Miller joined him in double-digits with 16 and 14 points, respectively.

In the first half, neither team led by more than single digits. An alley-oop from sophomore Mitchell Murphy (Cresco) to Sathoff with less than a minute to go in the frame made it a one-point game at the break.

Wartburg returns to action Saturday on the road against Simpson at 4 p.m.
