Peth Inducted into Wisconsin Basketball Hall of Fame

LACROSSE, Wis.-- Wartburg head men's basketball coach Dick Peth was inducted into the Wisconsin High School Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame on Oct. 5.

Peth is a 1975 graduate of Tomah High School. He was a three-time First-team All-Conference player and scored 1,331 points which ranks second on the LaCrosse Tribune's all-time list of boy's basketball players.

Peth attended the University of Iowa where he played basketball and baseball. He was the co-captain of the 1979 basketball team that won the Big Ten title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament under former coach Lute Olson.

He became assistant coach at the University of Denver, an NCAA Division II school, in 1985 and was promoted to head coach at age 29. He posted a record of 221-123 at Denver before taking the job at Wartburg in 1997.

Peth has a career record of 256-157 and Wartburg which includes three Iowa Conference championships and the 2005 conference Coach of the Year.

On Feb. 3, 2007, he became the 33rd active head coach to reach 400 wins in NCAA Division III.
