DECORAH, Iowa-- Wartburg (7-2-2 overall, 2-0-0 IIAC) upset No. 7 Luther (9-1-0, 1-1-0) 2-1 Wednesday night. Not only was this the second upset win over a Top 10 team this season, (the Knights upset then-No. 9 St. Thomas 4-1 on Sept. 20) but marked the biggest upset win for the program since the Knights defeated then-No. 3 Loras 2-1 in overtime on Nov, 7, 2009.

"This was a very quality win against a Luther team that has all the pieces to do big things this season," said head coach Kirk Artist. "Our boys have been up and down this season but they step up when it counts. We are beginning to find out who we are as a team and I'm really excited about what I am seeing going into the rest of the season.

"I'm very proud of the young men on the team to get to this point and they know that we have to continue to get better if we want to accomplish our goals," he continued.

Sophomore Nick Brown (Solon) put the Orange and Black on the board with his goal at 21:51. Classmate Paris Martins (Coralville) had the assist.

The Norse evened the score at 39:18 before senior Dan Nadeau (White Bear Lake, Minn.) scored the eventual game-winner just before halftime at 44:30. Classmate Zach Smith (Cedar Rapids) was credited with the assist.

Wartburg held the team advantage in shots (11-6), but Luther held the lead in corner kicks (5-3).

The Knights return to action Saturday when they host Central at 3:30 p.m.
