GRINNELL, Iowa-- Wartburg (4-2-2 overall) defeated Grinnell (4-4-0) in shutout fashion, 3-0, Sunday.

Junior Brittany Frush (La Porte City) scored her first of two goals on the day at 10:46 to give the Knights the early lead. Freshman Alyssa Hewitt (Clive) was credited with the assist.

Frush doubled the lead for the Orange and Black just ten minutes later with her goal at 20:24.

This remained the score through halftime until freshman Morgan Neuendorf (Waverly) netted her third goal of the season at 62:01.

As a team, Wartburg held the team advantages in shots (18-8) and corner kicks (4-3).

Freshman Beth Crow (North Liberty) and senior Katie Reinhardt (Waverly) combined for the shutout win.

The Knights return to the field Saturday when they travel to face Simson in their Iowa Conference opener at 1 p.m.
