Men's Soccer Travels to Face Buena Vista, Central, St. Olaf

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg men's soccer team takes to the road this week for three games. The Knights (8-4-1 overall, 1-2-0 IIAC) will face Buena Vista (5-8-0, 0-3-0) tonight at 7 p.m., Central (4-9-0, 1-2-0) Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and St. Olaf (7-5-0) Sunday at 3 p.m.

The Series
The Knights lead the all-time series 15-4 against BV. Wartburg holds the all-time series lead against Central at 18-10-2 and the Knights have won the last nine meetings. The Knights hold the narrow lead over St. Olaf at 6-5-0.

Wartburg
Junior Paris Martins (Coralville) and freshman Ben Johnson (Cedar Rapids) co-lead the team with seven goals. Freshman Ayo Adebayo (Rochester, Minn.) is the second-leading scorer with four goals and senior Zubeen Azari (Spirit Lake) has three.

Senior keeper Austin Boyke (Verona, Wis.) has two shutouts.

National Stat Rankings
Wartburg ranks in the top 100 of six statistical categories, which the NCAA released Tuesday. The Knights rank 63rd in total points (80), 67th in total goals (29), 74th in total assists (22), 89th in scoring offense (2.32), 89th in points per game (6.15) and 91st in assists per game (1.69).

Individually, one Knight ranks in the top 100 of two statistical categories as Boyke ranks 83rd in save percentage (.823) and 96th in goals against average (.906).

Buena Vista
Marcus Krause has a team-high four goals. Eric Powers follows with three and four players have two goals. The Beavers have two goalkeepers and they each have a shutout.

Central
Salvador Villanueva has a team-best four goals and Bryce Leonard follows with three. Keeper Josh Carpenter has two shutouts.

St. Olaf
Kevin Skrip leads the Oles with 10 goals. Aaron Stets has five goals and Jens Undlin has four. Each keeper also has two shutouts.
