Wartburg Hosts Simpson on Senior Day

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 21 Wartburg football team (7-1 overall, 4-1 IIAC) hosts Simpson (3-5, 2-3) Saturday at 1 p.m. The football Class of 2016 will be recognized prior to the game.

The Series
Wartburg holds the all-time series lead at 40-20-1 and has won five of the last seven meetings, including the last two.

Career Record Watch
Senior Logan Schrader (Killdeer, Ill.) became the all-time leader in career pass completions against Buena Vista, in touchdown passes against Dubuque, and in passing yards against Coe.

Senior Brandon Domeyer (Manchester) has moved into sixth on the all-time rushing leaders list with 3,094 yards and is second with 47 rushing touchdowns. His 49 career touchdowns now ranks second in program history.

Senior Logan Pitz (Farley) is second in pass breakups with 33. He needs three more to set a new school record and two to tie it.

Classmate Michael Bohlke (Manchester) moved into second in extra points made (135) and continues to extend his margin as the career leader in field goals made (24). Senior Grant Zimmerman (Mendota, Ill.) is fourth with 6,533 punt yards.

Wartburg
The Knights set a new single-game record with 573 total yards of offense last week in the shutout win over Buena Vista. Domeyer leads the team on the ground with 611 yards and 13 touchdowns on 120 carries. Junior Jake Haberman (Clarion) is second with 327 yards on 68 carries and three touchdowns.

Schrader, who has run for 145 yards and five TDs, has thrown for 2,202 yards and is 160-235-8 with 12 TDs. His top receiver has been senior Robbie Anstoetter (Farley), who has 45 receptions for 763 yards and four touchdowns. Classmate Mitch Rahm (Wesley) has 36 catches for 426 yards and two TDs while sophomore Riley Brockway (Postville) has 30 catches for 344 yards and one TD.

Senior Gunner Tranel (Vinton) leads the defense with 75 total tackles and junior Rob Rottler (Greene) has 60. Tranel also has a team-best nine tackles for a loss of 34 yards.

Wartburg ranks in the top 100 of 35 statistical categories, which the NCAA released Tuesday.

The Knights rank fourth in fewest penalty yards per game (33.25), sixth in fewest penalty yards (266), eighth in fewest penalties per game (3.88), ninth in fewest penalties (31), tenth in 4th down conversion percentage defense (.214), 11th in completion percentage (.681), 13th in fumbles lost (3), 16th in winning percentage (.875), 39th in passing offense (275.9), 40th in team passing efficiency (152.70), 40th in 4th down conversion percentage (.600), 43rd in blocked punts (1), 45th in red zone defense (.655), 46th in scoring defense (19.1), 46th in turnover margin (.75), 49th in first downs offense (182), 49th in total offense (441.9), 49th in turnovers lost (11), 52nd in red zone offense (.825) and 57th in tackles for loss allowed (5.13). The Orange and Black also rank 60th in net punting (33.94), 63rd in scoring offense (33.4), 70th in passes intercepted (10), 70th in total defense (338.4), 76th in passing yards allowed (196.3), 78th in turnovers gained (17), 79th in kickoff return defense (18.10), 82nd in first downs defense (144), 89th in passing yards per completion (12.91), 89th in team passing efficiency defense (118.95), 90th in rushing defense (142.1), 91st in 3rd down conversion percentage (.396), 94th in time of possession (30:45), 96th in fumbles recovered (7) and 97th in blocked kicks (2).

Individually, five Knights rank in the top 100 of 18 statistical categories.

Schrader ranks 12th in completion percentage (.681), 18th in yards per pass attempt (8.94), 23rd in passing yards (2,101), 31st in total offense (286.9), 31st in passing yards per game (262.6), 39th in passing efficiency (153.2), 40th in completions per game (20.00), 66th in passing yards per completion (13.13), 67th in points responsible for (108), 75th in points responsible for per game (13.5) and 92nd in passing touchdowns (12).

Domeyer ranks 16th in rushing touchdowns (13) and 22nd in scoring (10.5). Zimmerman ranks 26th in punting (39.6). Anstoetter ranks 36th in receiving yards (763), 40th in receiving yards per game (95.4) and 83rd in receptions per game (5.6). Tranel ranks 84th in total tackles (84)

Simpson
Jordan Beem is the team's leading rusher with 934 yards on 191 carries and eight touchdowns. Signal caller Caleb Frye has thrown for 1,192 yards and is 100-181-7 with nine TD passes.

Nate Connealy leads the receivers with 301 yards on 30 catches while Adrean Johnson leads the defense with 59 total tackles.
