Knights Travel to Face Blugolds

WAVERLY, Iowa-- Wartburg (3-1 overall) travels to face UW-Eau Claire (3-2) Saturday at 5 p.m. The Blugolds will host Buena Vista Friday night.

The Series
The series is knotted at 2-2 and the Knights claimed last year's game, 85-74 in Eau Claire.

UW-Eau Claire
Three players are scoring in double figures and are led by 15.2 PPG from Jack Martinek. George Diekelman has 12.6 and Tyson Kalien follows with 11.0 PPG.
Jared Schneidermann has a team-best 7.6 rebounds/game.

Wartburg
The Knights also have three players in double digits and are paced by 17.0 PPG from junior Nick Webber (Peosta). Sophomore Nate Woeste (Atkins) and junior Jordan Cannon (Bollingbrook, Ill.) follow with 13.3 and 12.3 PPG, respectively.  Four players have 4.3 rebounds/game: Cannon, freshman Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) and sophomores Ty Putchio (Dubuque) and Bo Bader (Union).

Wartburg ranks in the top 100 of 14 statistical categories, which the NCAA released Monday. The Knights rank first in field-goal percentage (54.9), tenth in assists per game (20.0), 13th in turnovers forced (21.25),16th in steals per game (11.5), 21st in scoring margin (16.5), 23rd in rebound margin (10.3) and 33rd in scoring offense (89.0). The Orange and Black also rank 55th in total steals (46), 72nd in turnover margin (3.3), 76th in won-lost percentage (75.0), 79th in total assists (80), 97th in free-throw percentage (72.9), 98th in fewest fouls (75) and 100th in three-point field-goal percentage (37.7).

Individually, three Knights rank in the top 100 of three statistical categories.Freshman Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) ranks fifth in assist turnover ratio (6.50). Junior Nick Webber (Peosta) ranks 27th in field-goal percentage (67.7). Sophomore Nick Woeste (Atkins) ranks 99th in steals per game (2.25).
