Box ScoreWAVERLY, Iowa-- Four Wartburg players finished in double digits in the 86-70 win over Coe Wednesday. Two of those, senior Clay Cook (West Branch) and sophomore Nick Webber (Peosta) recorded double-doubles as Cook had 16 points and 12 rebounds while Webber had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Sophomore Jordan Cannon (Bolingbrook, Ill.) and freshman Nate Woeste (Atkins) rounded out the leading scorers with 18 and 16 points, respectively. Woeste finished a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line and Cannon was 6-6.
The Knights moved to 12-8 on the year and 5-4 in conference play while the Kohawks are now 13-7, 7-2.
The Orange and Black took the 37-28 lead into halftime. After Coe whittled the margin to three (67-64) with 4:16 to play, Wartburg compiled a 7-0 run over the next three minutes to take the 74-64 lead. The Kohawks would come within nine points with 1:21 to play, but the Knights made all 12 free throw attempts to seal the win.
The Orange and Black conclude their two-game homestand Saturday when they host Loras at 4 p.m.
