Wartburg Travels to Luther for First Round of IIAC Tournament

WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Wartburg men's soccer team (12-6-1 overall, 5-3 IIAC) will travel to face Luther (11-5-2, 5-3) on Saturday for the first round of the IIAC Tournament at 3 p.m. Admission will be $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens (65 ). Children five and under are free.

Win and Advance
Luther is the third seed and Wartburg is seeded sixth, but during the regular season the Knights were victorious over the then ranked No. 9 Norse in a 1-0 overtime thriller. The winner of this round will travel to Dubuque to face second-seeded University of Dubuque on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 7:00 p.m.
 
Wartburg
The Knights enter the match winning four of their last five games. Senior Paris Martins (Coralville) and sophomore Ayo Adebayo (Rochester, Minn.) both found the back of the net eight times this season. Martins and sophomore Ben Johnsonn (Marion) top the team in assists, each recording six. Sophomore goalies Paul Koebke Barsic (Madison, Wis.) and Gunnar Lenzen (Cedar Rapids) have accumulated six shutouts for the Orange and Black.
 
Luther
Benjamin Keller and Aidan O'Driscoll lead the Norse in scoring with four goals apiece. Andrew Avram has the most assists, tallying four total. Keeper Will Blain has four shutouts in the net.
 
National Stat Rankings
The Wartburg men's soccer team (12-6-1 overall) ranks in the top 100 of seven statistical categories, which the NCAA released Monday. The Knights rank 31st in total assists (35), 39th in total points (119), 41st in total goals (42), 48th in assists per game (1.94), 68th in points per game (6.61), 79th in scoring offense (2.33) and 86th won-lost-tied percentage (.694).
 
Individually, three Knights rank in the top 100 of three statistical categories. Adebayo ranks 89th in game-winning goals (3). Martins ranks 89th in game-winning goals (3) and 98th in total assists (6). Johnson ranks 98th in total assists (6).
