Knights Look to Continue Winnning Ways

WAVERLY, Iowa—The Wartburg men's basketball team (3-0) will look to stay undefeated as they travel to Bethany Lutheran (1-1) on Tuesday and Governors State (2-3) on Saturday.

Wartburg
Wartburg enters the week coming off a three home wins after defeating Grinnell (126-100), Marian (90-83) and No. 21 UW-Oshkosh (83-72). They were crowned the Buzz Levick Tournament title and junior Nate Woeste (Atkins) was named All-Tournament MVP. Senior Jordan Cannon (Bolingbrook, Ill.) also earned All-Tournament honors. Sophomore Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) was the top-scorer on the week, totaling 57 points and averaging 19 per game. Junior Clifton Brown (Mims, Fla.) grabbed 19 rebounds for the Knights.
 
Bethany Lutheran
The Knights have a 6-2 all-time advantage over the Vikings. In 2015, Wartburg was victorious 95-69. Brandyn Frelix leads the Vikings in points per game average with 21 and is the leading rebounder, averaging 8.5 per contest. He also has recorded a team-high seven assists on the season. Tuesday night's tip-off is 7 p.m.
 
Governors State
Last season, the teams faced off for their first ever meeting and Wartburg topped Governors State 74-71. The Tigers have won both of their home contests this season. Torrey Oliver is the team's scoring leader, averaging 23.2 points per game. Jalen Miller is also an offensive leader, averaging 18 points per game. In addition, Miller tops the team in rebounds (22) and assists (17). Saturday's road game will begin at 3 p.m.
