FOREST CITY, Iowa -- The No. 19 Wartburg men's basketball team (10-2 overall) topped Waldorf (5-12) on Saturday 92-90 in the final second of the game.
After seven lead changes in the first half, the Knights led the Warriors 47-43 at halftime.
Waldorf took command early in the second, leading by as many as 13 points with 11:49 remaining in the game. Wartburg came back to take a 90-88 lead with :39 left on the clock. A Waldorf layup at the :30 mark tied the contest 90-90.
An offensive rebound by junior Clifton Brown (Mims, Fla.) and a jumper by senior Jordan Cannon (Bolingbrook, Ill.) with :01 on the clock gave the Knights the 92-90 come-from-behind victory. Brown was credited with the assist.
Cannon (Bolingbrook, Ill.) recorded 22 points, the highest of any Knight. Following Cannon was senior Nick Webber (Peosta) with 17 and senior Lenart Kalan (Skofja Loka, Slovenia) with 14. Sophomore Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) and junior Nate Woeste (Atkins) rounded out the top scorers with 12 and 10 points.
Brown was the top-rebounded for the Knights, grabbing nine. Woeste and Webber each added four assists.
The Knights will host Loras on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
