CEDAR FALLS, Iowa--The No. 21 Wartburg men's basketball team (0-1 overall) fell to Division I UNI (2-1), 72-43 Wednesday.
During the first half, Wartburg overcame a 12-point deficit to go into halftime trailing the Panthers, 31-26.
The Knights battled back at the start of the second half, cutting UNI's lead to just two points.
Junior Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) led the Orange and Black offense with 12 points. Senior Sawyer Herman (Monticello) had 10. Senior Trevor Larson (Jesup) had a team-best two assists. Sophomore Ryan Stulken (Walford) and junior Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) each had two offensive rebounds.
On the Knights' defensive effort, senior Nate Woeste (Atkins) had a team-best seven defensive rebounds. Sabus had five.
As a team, Wartburg made all eight free throws they attempted. Herman led the team in made free throws with four.
Wartburg will face Crown College on Friday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. in their own Buzz Levick Tournament.
