FOREST CITY, Iowa--The No. 21 Wartburg men's basketball team (4-1 overall) prevailed over Waldorf (3-7), 78-67 in the Waldorf Classic Saturday.
The Orange and Black had a narrow one-point lead over the Warriors, 35-34 at halftime.
During the second half, Wartburg and Waldorf tied the game four times, before Wartburg went on a 7-3 run to secure their lead.
Leading the offense for the Knights, junior Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) and senior Sawyer Herman (Monticello) each netted 14 points. Junior Josh Gehling (Dyersville) tallied 10. Gehling recorded a .555 field goal percentage, going 5 for 9 in the paint.
On defense for Wartburg, junior Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) tallied a team-best seven rebounds. Senior Nate Woeste (Atkins) and Gehling each had four. Senior Clifton Brown (Mims, Fla.) had two blocks.
Wartburg will open conference play on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at Dubuque at 8 p.m.
