The Eagles jumped out to an early 4-1 lead to start the game, before the Knights exploded on a 17-6 run. Wartburg led by as many as 22 points during the first half.Â
At the half, the Orange and Black led UW-La Crosse, 39-17.
The Eagles battled back to within two at two different times in the second half, 7:53 and 8:58.Â
After a clinch offensive rebound from senior
Clifton Brown (Mims, Fla.), junior
Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) would score a layup and be fouled, putting the Knights up by nine at 5:21.
Sabus led Wartburg's offense with a team-high 22 points. Junior
Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) tallied ten. Senior
Sawyer Herman (Monticello) earned a career-best four assists.Â
Defensively, Brown led the team with seven rebounds. Sabus tallied six. Woeste also earned three steals.Â
The Orange and Black held the advantages in rebounds (39-31), assists (14-13), steals (3-2).
With the win, the Knights move their winning streak to eight.Â
Wartburg will travel to Las Vegas, Nev. for the d3hoops classic to face UW-Stevens Point on Dec. 28 at 6 p.m. PT and Augsburg University on Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. PT.Â
