RIVER FALLS, Wis.-- The Wartburg men's basketball team (21-9 overall) advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 1987 with the 76-43 upset win over No. 4 UW-River Falls (25-4) Saturday night. Not only was this the first back-to-back wins in the NCAA Tournament since 1991, it will also be the first appearance in the Sweet Sixteen since that year. The Knights also moved their overall winning streak to seven and have claimed the last five straight on the road.
Second Round Highlights
This marked the fourth upset win and second in as many days over a Top 25 opponent for the Orange and Black this season.
Junior Nate Woeste (Atkins) led all scorers with 19 points. Seniors Jordan Cannon (Bollingbrook, Ill.) and Nick Webber (Peosta) joined him in double digits with 16 and 12 points, respectively. Cannon added a team-best seven rebounds and three assists.
Wartburg opened the game on a 16-2 run over the first five and a half minutes of the game and never looked back.
Defensively, the Knights held the Falcons to 7.1% behind the arc in the first half alone (1-14). The Orange and Black held the advantage in all three shooting percentage categories: field goal (.522 vs. .226), three-point field goal percentage (.391 vs. .162) and free throw (.826 vs. .565),

Wartburg will face Augustana (Ill.) Friday at Hope College in Holland, Mich. Game time is yet to be announced.
