NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- The Wartburg volleyball also opened its season in shutout fashion with a 3-0 sweep over Lakeland Friday (25-22, 25-14, 25-14).
Senior Aryn Jones (Marion) and junior Lizzy Blough (Dike) led the team in double digit kills with 12 and 10, respectively. Jones finished with an impressive .500 hitting percentage while freshman Kylie Bildstein (Dyersville) made her collegiate debut with a team-best at .625.
Newcomer Katie Foster (Charles City) recorded 19 digs in her inaugural college game to lead the team.
Senior Maria Brown (Peosta) and junior Mallary Erbes (Urbandale) tallied 18 and 11 set assists, respectively as they co-ran the offense.
As a team, the Knights held the Muskies to a .018 hitting percentage. The Orange and Black also held the advantages in kills (40-23), assists (33-20), service aces (5-3), digs (58-38) and blocks (6-1).
Wartburg plays two matches Saturday to conclude competition at the Music City Classic.
