WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg volleyball team remained undefeated in conference play with its 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-19) sweep over Buena Vista Wednesday. The Knights moved to 12-3 on the year and 2-0 in IIAC matches, while BV is 10-8, 1-2.
With the win, the Orange and Black also snapped Buena Vista's four-match winning streak.
A trio of Knights finished in double digits as senior Aryn Jones (Marion) had a team-high 18 kills. Classmate Maddie Miller (Johnston) followed at 14, just one shy of her career mark, and junior Lizzy Blough (Dike) tallied 10.
Jones hit an impressive .560, Miller at .500 and junior Mallary Erbes (Urbandale) at .417.
Senior Maria Brown (Peosta) recorded 24 assists and Erbes had 15.
Freshman Katie Foster (Charles City) had 18 digs while Brown had a double-double as she had 13.
Wartburg held the advantage in every team category and held BV to a .039 hitting percentage on the night.
In the first set, the Knights jumped to a 7-1 lead and never looked back. In the second set, the Orange and Black took the lead at 10-3 and never relinquished it.
The third set was a little tighter as BV came within one at 17-16. Wartburg quickly compiled a three-point run to put the frame out of reach.
The Knights continue their homestand Saturday against Nebraska Wesleyan at 3 p.m.
