WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg volleyball team remained undefeated in Iowa Conference play with its 3-1 win over Nebraska Wesleyan Saturday. The Knights are now 13-3 overall and 3-1 in IIAC matches.
The Orange and Black won the first set 28-26, dropped the second 25-21, and won the last two 25-16 and 25-22.
Three Wartburg players finished in double digit kills as senior Aryn Jones (Marion) had a team-best 19, classmate Maddie Miller (Johnston) had 14 and junior Lizzy Blough (Dike) had 13.
Senior Maria Brown (Peosta) tallied 30 assists and junior Mallary Erbes (Urbandale) had 23. Erbes and Bloug recorded a double-doubles as they added 13 and 11 digs, respectively.
Freshman Katie Foster (Charles City) finished with 27 digs and a career-best three service aces.
As a team, the Orange and Black held the advantages in kills (66-54), hitting percentage (.309 vs. .236), assists (58-48), service aces (6-4) and digs (76-69).
Wartburg returns to the court on the road against Luther Wednesday at 7 p.m.
