COLLEGEVILLE, Minn.-- The Wartburg men's soccer team (2-0-1 overall) earned a comeback win in its 3-1 victory over Saint John's (1-1-0) Friday. This marked the fourth-straight win for the Knights over the Johnnies on the road.
The game was scoreless through the first half until Saint John's scored on a penalty kick at 56:07.
Senior Garrett Grimsman (Iowa City) evened the score with a PK of his own at 68:33. He is now tied for fourth on the program's career leader list in this category.
Freshman Sam Thomann (
Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and Will Hamilton (Lake Geneva, Wis.) scored their first collegiate goals at 81:05 and 87:17, respectively. Junior Ben Johnson (Marion) had Wartburg's lone assist, which was recorded on Hamilton's goal.
Gunnar Lenzen defended the goal for the Knights and allowed one goal.Â
The Knights held advantages in shots by period (26-12) and corner kicks (8-7).
Wartburg returns to action against Gustavus Adolphus on Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. in St. Peter, Minn.
