Wartburg Prevails Over Gustavus Adolphus

ST. PETER, Minn.-Wartburg men's soccer (3-0-1 overall) defeated Gustavus Adolphus (3-2-0) on Sunday, 4-1. 

With the win, the Knights continue increasing their lead in the overall series against the Gusties at 6-4-1.

Senior Ben Johnson (Marion) led the team in goals with two. Also scoring for the Orange and Black was senior Jakub Rys (Huntley, Ill.) and freshmen Jack Palen (Norwalk) with one goal each. 

Assisting Johnson in both goals was junior Daniel Luzindya (Cedar Rapids). Sophomore Nick Schwake got the assist for Rys' goal and freshman Sam Thomann (Menomonee Fall, Wis.) assisted on Palen's goal. 

In goal, junior Gunnar Lenzen (Cedar Rapids) tallied two saves. 

The Knights held advantages in shots by period (14-5) and corner kicks (6-4). 

Wartburg returns to action against Macalester College on Sept. 17 at 3:00 p.m. in Waverly.
