MILWAUKEE, WIS. — The Knights tied MSOE 3-3 after scoring goals late in each half on Sunday, Sept. 12 at Viets Field to move to 1-1-3 overall.
Drew DeSmidt scored before halftime to make the score 1-1 and then
Alima Mmunga scored at 81:58 as the Knights equalized late to finish a second half in which they scored twice.
How It Happened
First Half
- After an early Knights corner, MSOE took two shots and two corner kicks during a scoreless stretch, with
Joseph Svoboda saving Steven Thomas' attempt at 13:46.
- MSOE moved ahead 1-0 at 30:40 when Lachlan Ladd scored off an assist from Owen Pacetti.
- The Knights generated shots from
Lwings Kabula and
Diego Sanchez before
Drew DeSmidt tied the match 1-1 at 43:32 off an assist from
Flori Gembo.
- The teams went to halftime tied 1-1.
Second Half
- The Knights generated three shots in the opening 10 minutes of the half, including a Sanchez attempt saved by Christian Dershem, before Andrew Calderon scored for MSOE at 54:45 to put MSOE ahead 2-1.
- The Knights responded with two Kabula shots saved and two corner kicks, then Gembo scored off Mmunga's assist at 59:16 to tie the match 2-2.
- Svoboda saved Calderon's shot at 69:45, and the Knights later earned two corners before
Devin Bormann's shot was saved at 77:10; MSOE went back in front 3-2 on Juan Pablo Escobar's goal from Steven Thomas at 78:31, with a red card issued to
Jacob Chickering at the same time.
- Mmunga tied it 3-3 at 81:58, and MSOE's final two shots missed the target as the match finished 3-3.
