LINCOLN, Neb.-- Senior Nate Woeste (Atkins) led the team with 20 points in Wartburg's 99-60 loss to Nebraska Wesleyan Wednesday. The Prairie Wolves moved their winning streak to three and are now 15-2 on the season and 6-2 in IIAC games, while the Knights are 12-5, 5-3.
Juniors Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) and Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) each had eight points. Senior Clifton Brown (Mims, Fla.) had a team-high five rebounds, which included four on the offensive glass.
The Orange and Black jumped to the 4-0 lead in the opening three minutes of the game, though the Prairie Wolves later took the lead for good at 19-12 with 11:05 to go in the half. NWU built the margin to 14 with 1:47 to play in the frame, until Woeste accounted for all of Wartburg's points in the 8-2 run over the next minute. Nebraska Wesleyan took the 39-29 lead at halftime.
NWU used a strong second half as it scored 60 points to seal the win.
Wartburg owned the team advantage in offensive rebounds (14-11).
The Knights are off from competition this weekend and return to the court next Wednesday at Loras at 8 p.m.
