No. 18 Men's Basketball Hosts Central

WAVERLY, Iowa—The No. 18 ranked Wartburg men's basketball team (9-2 overall, 2-0 IIAC) hosts Central (5-7, 2-1) on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 8 p.m. in Levick Arena.

The Series
Wartburg has the advantage in the all-time series against Central at 63-46. Last season, the Knights dropped both regular season meetings against the Dutch, 90-94 and 86-91, respectively. The Orange and Black avenged those losses in the Iowa Conference Tournament final game, prevailing 89-85 and earning the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Wartburg
The Knights enter the game after going 1-1 at the D3Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., defeating UW-Stevens Point, 75-66 and falling to Augsburg, 68-64.

Wartburg's offensive effort is led by four Knights averaging double digit points per game: junior Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) (15.5), senior Sawyer Herman (Monticello) (13.3), senior Nate Woeste (Atkins) (11.0) and junior Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) (10.3). Sabus also has a team-best 26 assists on the season.

Defensively, the Knights are led by Sabus in rebounds with 6.6 grabs per game. Woeste averages 5.5 rebounds per game. Freshman Max Smith Drahos (Cedar Rapids) has a team-high 17 steals.

Central
The Dutch enter Wednesday's game after going 2-0 at the D3Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., upsetting No. 6 Ramapo (N.J.) and defeating Pacific Lutheran (Wash.).

Central's offense is led by Kyle Smith and Malik Wildermuth, who each average 14.8 points per game. Seth Wood and Jamel McKnight also average double digit points for the Dutch, scoring 10.9 and 10.0 points per game, respectively. Wildermuth also has a team-best 33 assists this season.

On the defensive side of the ball, Caden Mauck averages a team-high 5.9 rebounds/game, with Luke Finley averaging 5.0 rebounds/game.
