The Series
The Orange and Black have a commanding lead in the all-time series against the Norse at 74-31. Wartburg split last season's meetings, defeating the Norse 73-66 on Jan. 18, then falling to Luther on Feb. 8, 69-64.
Wartburg
The Knights enter Wednesday's game after splitting their contests last week, defeating Central 80-65 and narrowly falling to Coe, 69-65.
Wartburg's offense is powered by three players averaging double digit points per game. Junior Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) averages 15.5 per game, senior Sawyer Herman (Monticello) scores 12.7 and senior Nate Woeste (Atkins) nets 11.5. Junior Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) leads the team in assists this season with 31.
On the defensive side of the ball, Sabus leads the team in rebounds, averaging 6.8 grabs per game. Woeste and junior Josh Gehling (Dyersville) each have seven blocks on the season. Freshman Max Smith Drahos (Cedar Rapids) has a team-high 21 steals on the year.
Luther
The Norse continue their three-game road swing, after falling to Simpson, 83-60 and Nebraska Wesleyan 117-66 last week.
Jared Nicolaisen leads the Norse offense, averaging 16.4 points per game and having a team-best 44 assists on the season. Rahul Bagga also averages double digit points per game with 11.1.
Defensively for the Norse, Nicolaisen leads the team in rebounds, averaging 3.8 per game. McCoy Matthias has a team-high 31 blocks, with Ray Whitlock tallying a team-high 20 steals.
