Wartburg Hosts No. 20 Central

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Wartburg (4-2 overall, 3-1 American Rivers) hosts undefeated Central (7-0, 5-0) Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the annual Homecoming game. Due to the A-R-C addition of Nebraska Wesleyan and restructuring of the conference schedule, this is the first trip to Waverly for the Dutch since 2015.

Central received the No. 20 ranking in the AFCA Top 25 poll for week five.

The Series
Central holds the all-time series lead at 43-24, though the Knights have won four of the last five, including last year's meeting. The programs have met every year since 1954.

Wartburg
Senior quarterback Matt Sacia (Eldridge) has thrown for 1,594 yards and 15 touchdowns. He has finished with triple-digit passing yards in 26 straight games and 28 of his last 29, dating back to the 2016 season.

Junior Kolin Schulte (Anamosa) leads the receivers with 657 yards on 28 catches and five TDs. He has tallied triple digits in receiving yards in the last three games. Sophomore JoJo McNair (Joliet, Ill.) joins him above the 200-yard mark with 216 yards and three TDs.

Sophomore Bennett Goettsch (Marengo) has a team-high 362 yards on 83 carries with 10 TDs. Junior Connor Bailey (Knoxville) has 313 yards and three TDs, and classmate Mason Carter (North Liberty) rounds out those in triple digits with 114 yards.

Senior Marcus Johnson (Huxley) leads the defense with 51 tackles. Classmate Dillon Rademaker (Greene) leads the team with 9.5 TFLs.

Career Record Watch
Sacia became the all-time leader in TD passes last Saturday on Wartburg's second drive of the second quarter. He surpassed Logan Schrader's 71 and has 74 to date. Sacia is now is second in passing yards with 7,592 and third in pass completions with 582. He needs 15 completions to move into second.

Senior Peyton Imhoff (Dubuque) is fourth with 32 pass break ups.

Central
Quarterback Blaine Hawkins has thrown for 1,610 yards for 16 TDs. His top target has been Erik Knaack who has 30 receptions for 578 yards and six TDs.
Nathan Fitzgerald leads the team on the ground with 371 yards on 81 carries and seven TDs. Donny Groezinger and Hawkins join him above 200 with 288 and 285 yards, respectively.  Connor Lewin leads the defense with 49 tackles, and Drew Kithcart follows with 46.

Against the Conference
Wartburg leads the A-R-C in scoring average (43 points/game), scoring defense (17.5 points/game), passing (313.3 yards/game), and rushing defense (42.3 yards/game).
Goettsch is the seventh-leading back in the conference with an average of 69.5 yards/game. Sacia leads the league in passing average (296.8 yards/game), and Schulte leads in receiving yards/game (123.5).

Central's Hawkins leads in yards (1,274), TDs (14), and efficiency (189.7).
