The Series
The Knights and Storm have faced one another a total of 30 times in program history, with the Knights owning a 15-13-2 series record. The Knights last match with the Storm took place on Oct. 28, 2017, in a 3-1 loss at Simpson. The last Knight victory over Simpson took place on Sept. 27, 2014, in a 4-3 effort.
Wartburg
The Knights (8-6-1 overall, 4-2-1 A-R-C) are coming off of a 2-1 loss in double overtime to Loras College on Wednesday evening. On the year, the Knights have scored 31 goals and are led by senior forward
Ben Johnson (Marion) with eight, which ranks first overall in the American Rivers Conference. Trailing Johnson's eight goals are senior forward
Ayo Adebayo (Rochester) with seven and senior midfielder
Daniel Luzindya (Cedar Rapids) with six, good for fourth and seventh overall in the A-R-C. While Luzindya has been able to find scoring opportunities for himself, he has also been able to create for his teammates as his six assists lead the team and are second overall in the conference. Paul Koebke Barsic (Madison, Wis.) leads the Knights goalies in minutes (991:52), goals against average (.91), saves (55), save percentage (.846) and holds a 8-2-1 record with five recorded shutouts.
Simpson
The Simpson Storm (10-4-2, 4-1-1) are coming off back-to-back wins over Saint Mary's (Minn.) and Loras College over the past week in advance of their matchup with the Knights. Leading the team in goals is sophomore Justin Gilmour with six, followed by Ian Dean and Spencer Young at five a piece. As a team, the Storm have scored 38 goals, which ranks second in the A-R-C. Sophomore goalkeeper Jake Potratz leads the Simpson goalies in minutes (1325:54), saves (52) and wins as he boasts a 10-3-2 record. His goals against average (1.018) ranks third overall in the conference. The Storm are coached by Rick Isaacson, who has lead the Storm for eight seasons and has compiled a record of 91-58-12 over that time.
National Stat Rankings
Multiple Knights have recorded statistics that rank in the top 100 in various categories in the NCAA. Johnson's eight season goals tie him for 92
nd overall in the NCAA, while Luzindya's six assists are tied for 53
rd overall. Koebke Barsic's five shutouts are tied for 44
th overall amongst NCAA goalies, in addition to his save percentage (.846) ranking 27
th overall.
