Men's Soccer to Face Dubuque Thursday

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg men's soccer team travels to face Dubuque at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Series
The Knights and Spartan's men's programs have competed against one another 19 times in total throughout their individual histories. The last time these two teams met ended in a 2-2 double-overtime tie on Oct. 4, 2017. The last Knight's win over the Spartans took place on Oct. 19, 2016, in a 3-1 effort in Dubuque.

The Knights (5-5, 1-1) are coming off an intense 1-0 loss to Central College on Sept 29, snapping their four-game win streak. Currently, the Knights are tied for fourth in the American Rivers Conference standings with Central College. Senior forward Ben Johnson (Marion) leads the team in goals (7), shots (22), and shots on goal (14). Trailing Johnson in goals are senior Ayo Adebayo (Rochester, Minn.) and sophomore Jack Palen (Norwalk) with four apiece. As a team, the Knights have combine to score 20 goals on 149 attempts (13.4%), with 75 of those attempts (50.3%) coming on goal. Goalkeeper Paul Koebke Barsic (Madison, Wis.) leads in goalie minutes (505:54), saves (26), wins (5), and shutouts (4).
