The Series
The Knights have faced the Beavers 22 times throughout the history of the program and have essentially dominated the series by a record of 18-4, including their current 15-game win streak over Buena Vista dating back to Oct. 2, 2004. Over their 15-game win streak, the Knights have outscored the Beavers a combined total of 61 to 4.
Wartburg
The Knights (7-5 overall, 3-1 ARC) are coming off of a 5-4 double-overtime victory against Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday. The Knights are led in scoring by senior forward
Ben Johnson (Marion) with a conference-leading seven goals, with fellow seniors
Ayo Adebayo (Rochester, Minn.),
Daniel Luzindya (Cedar Rapids) and junior
Jack Palen (Norwalk) trailing behind with six, five and five goals, respectively. In total, the Knights have scored 27 goals, which stands at fourth overall in the American Rivers Conference. Johnson and Luzindya are currently the top two players on the team, as well as in the conference, in total points with 16 apiece. Senior goalkeeper
Paul Koebke Barsic (Madison, Wis.) is the Knights' lockdown goalie, only allowing six goals in eight games, compiling a conference best 36 saves along the way. Koebke Barsic boasts a 7-1 record in the eight games he's played.
Career Record Watch
Following Saturday's win over Nebraska Wesleyan University, Koebke Barsic now has recorded 13 career wins, which moves up to sixth all-time in Knights men's soccer history. He will need to earn three more wins to tie for fifth, currently owned by former Knights goalie Austin Boyke (2014-15).
Buena Vista
The Beavers (0-11-1, 0-2-1) are searching for their first win of the season and have allowed 36 goals in total, standing at last in the conference. The Beavers are led in scoring by junior Noah Bardwell, with two goals scored in 12 matches this season. Junior goalkeeper Manuel Garcia Aguilar has compiled 78 saves in total while giving up 35 goals (68.6%). The Beavers are coached by Ben McArthur, who is in his fourth season with the team and has a career record of 18-50-3.
