The Series
The Knights and Rams have met 39 times since the inaugural matchup was played on Dec. 8, 1956. The Knights hold an all-time series record of 24-15, including winning their past two matchups and most recently beating the Rams 90-77 in the season opener on Nov. 13.
Wartburg
The Knights are off to a 2-0 start after defeating Cornell College and Viterbo University in the Buzz Levick Tournament. Senior guard
Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) leads the team in scoring by averaging 18 points a game. Junior center
Ryan Stulken (Walford) trails Sabus in scoring, totaling 12.5 points per game, but leads the team in rebounding by recording 8.5 rebounds per game. Stulken and Sabus were named to the Buzz Levick Classic All-Tournament team for their efforts.
Cornell College
The Rams are coming off back-to-back losses in the Buzz Levick Classic to start the season. Sophomore forward Cooper Kabela leads the team in points per game (15.5), average minutes (27.5), field goal percentage (66.7%) and is a perfect 10 of 10 from the free throw line. Kabela's efforts in the Buzz Levick Classic earned him All-Tournament honors, the only Rams player to do so. Junior guard Cam Sturtevant is second on the team in scoring (9 ppg) and has connected on six of 16 shot attempts (37.5%), including five of 13 (38.5%) on three-pointers.
The Rams are coached by Dave Schlabaugh, who is entering his second season at the head of the program. Cornell finished 12-13 overall in Schlabaugh's initial campaign.
