WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg football team (7-2 overall, 6-1 American Rivers) defeated Luther (1-8, 1-6) 43-7 Saturday. With its victory and Dubuque's victory over Simpson, this sets up the American Rivers Conference Championship game next weekend in Dubuque.

The Knights scored on their second drive of the game as sophomore Mason Carter (North Liberty) scored from 11-yards out to take the early lead. Senior Dane Steidler (Eldridge) forced a safety on the Norse's ensuing drive to make the score 9-0

Carter had his second TD of the game at the beginning of the second quarter, this one for a 48-yard scamper.

Senior quarterback Matt Sacia (Eldridge) would orchestrate the next four scores by the Orange and Black as he finished with four TD passes, just one shy of the single-game school record. He was 22-27 for 359 yards. Sacia has finished with triple-digit passing yards in 29 straight games and 31 of his last 32, dating back to the 2016 season.

He connected with four different receivers on those drives as three of them finished in triple digit yards on the day.

Sophomore JoJo McNair (Joliet, Ill.) had eight catches for 123 yards, junior Kolin Schulte (Anamosa) had five catches for 114 yards, and classmate Brandan Childs (Solon) had a career-high 114 yards on five receptions. Junior Lee Bonifus (Asbury) had the other TD.

This was the fifth 100-yard game in Schulte's career, first for Childs, and third for McNair.

Steidler led the defense with a career-high 10 tackles, which included a career-best 2.5 TFLs.
