WAVERLY, Iowa-- For the fourth-straight game, junior Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) set a new career high in points as he had 22 in Saturday's 90-81 loss to conference leader, Nebraska Wesleyan (21-3 overall, 12-3 IIAC).
Three fellow Knights joined Kickbush in double digits as classmate Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) had 17 points, 14 of which were just in the second half. Senior Sawyer Herman (Monticello) and junior Josh Gehling (Dyersville) each had 13.
Kickbush also led the team on the glass with eight rebounds.
The Prairie Wolves led 48-31 at halftime. The Orange and Black were able to cut the margin to nine seven times in the second half, which included 88-79 with 1:18 to play. NWU was able to answer on every rally attempt, to halt Wartburg's comeback attempts.
Wartburg owned the team advantages in field goal percentage (.483 vs. .475), and three-point field goal percentage (.440 vs. .419).
The Knights host Coe next Wednesday at 8 p.m.
