PELLA, Iowa-- Senior Sawyer Herman (Monticello) scored a career-high 29 points and junior Jaran Sabus (Urbandale) made the game-winning free throw with 0:19 left in Saturday's 93-92 comeback win over Central. Herman's previous mark was 28 set against Simpson on Feb. 3.
Freshman Max Smith Drahos (Cedar Rapids) completed the leading scorers with a career-best 18 points.
The Knights moved to 16-9 overall and 9-7 in Iowa Conference games, while the Dutch are 10-15, 7-9.
Central took the 58-41 lead into halftime. The Orange and Black began to chip away at the margin and tied the score three times, which included 92 all with 19 seconds remaining as Sabus made his the front end of his free throws. His second attempt was also good to give Wartburg the one-point lead.
The Dutch attempted a trey, corralled the offensive rebound and quickly attempted another three-pointer that also was unsuccessful to give the Knights the win.
Senior Nate Woeste (Atkins) also became the program's career leader in games played at 111. He surpassed Nick Webbers' 110 games played.
The Orange and Black return to action Tuesday in the Iowa Conference Tournament.
